So gladyou came...

Dear Team Zest

Habitat was one of the earliest sparks in my creative career—I can still vividly remember wandering the Birmingham city centre store as a teenager, soaking up the visual storytelling and beautifully curated design like it was a gallery. Equally, Argos, like for so many of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s, was a cornerstone of everyday inspiration. It was where I went to dream up birthday wish lists, plan Christmas mornings, or simply leaf through pages of everything you wanted but didn’t yet have. Both brands, in very different ways, helped shape my relationship with creativity, accessibility, and aspiration.

Years later, while working on the Matalan rebrand with Pentagram, I had the privilege of collaborating with John Rushworth. Our conversations often lead to his time at the Conran Design Group and working on the habitat brand.

Currently, I’m Creative Director at eight&four, where–after a merger with my agency Inkling Culture– I lead 40 creatives across motion, design, video, editorial and strategy.

I’ve built departments from scratch, overseen integrated campaigns across every channel—from social to OOH to experiential—and helped grow clients from single briefs into multi-million-pound global accounts. I’m as comfortable writing platform ideas as I am directing shoots or refining layouts, and I’ve recently embedded AI tools into our creative workflow to improve both craft and speed.

This role represents the perfect blend of creative ambition, brand heritage, and everyday impact. I’d be excited to help evolve the visual and verbal identity of two iconic British brands, while leading a team that’s brave, curious, and proudly detail-obsessed.

Thank you for your time—I’d love the opportunity to bring my experience, energy and point of view to the Zest team.

All the best,
Slev.
