Sort of Local…

  • Once home to the Olympics, now home to loads of cultural institutions, a Westfield shopping centre, and West Ham FC.

Olympic Park: Nice to have a walk around

    Saddler’s Wells East:
Contemporary dance space, sister venue of a north London institution.

    London Aquatic Centre:
Zaha Hadid Olympic masterpiece. Might need to do all the registering and signing up to get in though.

    V&A East Storehouse:
super interesting concept, I think you can go through their archivers on line and order a time slot to take a look. Might be useful for summer projects.

    Westfield:
    You know the score.

  • Very trendy full fo very trendy people – but some great places if you don;t mind the hipsters.

    Crate:
    Brewery and pizza.

    Howling Hops:
    Brewery and rotating food offers.

    Lucia’s:
    Open fire Mexican.

    Silo:
    Zero Waste Fine Dining

  • Just up the road, a nice park, some nice coffee shops, a great fruit & veg shop, and one of the best butchers in the UK.

    Bear Brew:
They do a bacon naan (Dishoom rip off) and great coffee.

    La Bakerie:
    French patisserie and coffee

    Harvey’s:
    Fruit & Veg

    The Ginger Pig:
    London’s best butchers.

    The Duke:
Nice pub, but had a really terrible Sunday Roast once

  • TimeOut’s coolest neighbourhood. They obviously haven’t been to Forest Gate. Essentially you want to head to Francis Road and have a mooch.

    Yardarm:
Independent wine, bakery and provisions shop.

    Marmelo Kitchen:
Another lovely deli. Also do supper clubs.

    Deeney’s:
Scottish cafe, Haggis toasties. I like the vegan one.

  • A smaller version of Leyton.

    The North Star:
A really great boozer that also has great pizza and Thai food. A nice walk from ours across the Wanstead Flats (one semi-treacherous road crossing) - doesn’t feel like your in London when you’re there though… other than the trendy crowd.

    Homies on Donkeys:
Unsure if we should be recommending Mexican – but there you go… food is great, don’t rate the cocktails though.

    Yard Sale Pizza:
A great pizza chain. Again, is it NY levels… I’ll let you decide. But a safe bet if you need to feed the family – multiple locaitons.
